A Christmas ago, my father visited from Perth and was quite forthright in commenting on how much weight I had put on and compared me to a ‘Christmas pudding.' Coupled to my annoyance of that remark, I was getting tired easily and felt like I had no energy at all.

  

I had thought of the above were a symptom of middle age, so I vowed to walk every day. Well that didn't happen. So, I bought a season's pass to the pool after laboring through a dozen laps the pass remained unused.

  

At this point a well-meaning friend spotted a fellow in the park working out with a woman. She approached him for his card and insisted I call him.

  

Filled with every misgiving, visions of the stereotypical personal training nightmare and quite cynical, I rang and organised the first appointment.

  

As gruelling and embarrassing as it could have been having a total stranger take a good look at my shape, it was constructive and surprisingly painless. The sessions continued and I have found the total support and encouragement that occurs far more beneficial than even the solid workout. My body fat has been reducing; my fitness increasing and i actually look forward to the sessions ahead.

  

So, if the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the one thing that is for certain is that pudding is no longer the author of this testimonial!

A while ago I read one of Tim's posts on cool running and thought "I'd like to train with that guy".

  

2 years later that opportunity came up and I've never looked back. Tim has a casual but determined style, he sets realistic goals then gently helps me achieve them, my body shape, endurance, fitness and overall health have improved out of sight.

  

At run club Tim has taken a bunch of keen shufflers and turned them into almost obsessed runners, I always thought of running as solitary sport but Tim has made it a community.
